With this recognition, I hope that we can inspire other municipalities to adopt a similar model, whilst encouraging New Yorkers to access primary care through NYC Care and lead longer, healthier lives.”

“The Fierce 50 special report shines a spotlight on those who are making a significant impact and driving progress in the pharmaceutical, healthcare and biotech industries,” said Ayla Ellison, Editor-in-Chief, Fierce Life Sciences and Healthcare. “These outstanding individuals and companies exemplify excellence in their fields, and their dedication to innovation and improving lives is truly commendable. Congratulations to this year’s honorees.”

NYC Care recently celebrated its four-year anniversary, with nearly 120,000 members enrolled in the health care access program. As highlighted in the Mayor’s Management Report, enrollment in NYC Care increased 5.4% from 113,178 members in Fiscal Year 2022 to 119,234 in Fiscal Year 2023, and is up 352% from its first year in 2019. NYC Care has had a transformative impact on the health outcomes of its members. 50% of members with diabetes and 42% of members with hypertension have seen an improvement in their blood sugar and blood pressure, respectively, after six months in the program.

NYC Care members have access to a range of health services, from primary and preventive care to specialty care. As NYC Care celebrates the start of primary care week, NYC Health + Hospitals encourages all New Yorkers to learn more about the program, and connect with a caring primary care provider to support their lifelong journey to leading healthier lives.
