NYC Care and MetroPlusHealth Launch ‘Stay Covered NYC’ Webinar to Educate Staten Islanders on Health Care Options Apr 27, 2023

‘Stay Covered NYC’ is a citywide digital health care outreach initiative, which began April 4th with Queens-based community partners

Webinar series is a partnership between NYC Care and MetroPlusHealth to educate New Yorkers on health care options and address end of Medicaid’s Continuous Coverage provision

NYC Health + Hospitals’ NYC Care program and MetroPlusHealth will launch the ‘Stay Covered NYC’ webinar series on Friday, April 24, from 12:00 to 1:00 pm to educate Staten Island-based community partners and New Yorkers about the benefits of continuous health care coverage. The Staten Island-focused webinar will cap a citywide digital health care outreach effort, which began Tuesday, April 4th for over 25 Queens-based community partners. Participants have included both health care-focused community-based organizations as well as individuals representing other community interests, such as public-school parent coordinators who support families in different ways. The webinar series addressed Medicaid’s recertification process, changes to COVID resources, and ways that NYC Care and MetroPlusHealth can partner with community-based organizations to support local communities. The series aims to dispel fears that accessing health care such as NYC Care will affect ones’ immigration status, and encourages New Yorkers to make primary care appointments.

“The natural partnership between NYC Care and MetroPlusHealth on the ‘Stay Covered NYC’ webinar series is an important step toward ensuring New Yorkers across the five boroughs understand the effect of the end of Medicaid’s continuous coverage provision and have access to health care,” said Jonathan Jiménez, MD, Executive Director of NYC Care. “In New York City, health care is a human right. That means that all New Yorkers, regardless of immigration status or ability to pay can rely on NYC Care to lead healthy lives.”

“The partnership with NYC Care on the launch of ‘Stay Covered NYC’ allows us to offer essential webinars to our community-based partners across New York City, in a convenient and accessible manner,” said Roger Milliner, Chief Growth Officer, MetroPlusHealth. “As we wrap up the latest webinar in the series, with a focus on our Staten Island-based partners, we will continue to highlight the end of Medicaid’s continuous coverage provision to ensure New Yorkers do not experience lapses in coverage. We are committed to doing all we can to lessen any pain our members might experience, and to keep as many of them as possible insured. Educating those who influence and guide our communities is a great place to start.”
